It has been an interesting few weeks in the Union. We’ve organised events such as ‘HUU In The City’ and the NUS National Demonstration in London, as well as our Athletic Union Ball, which takes place on Thursday, November 18. I’d like to thank everyone who has helped out in the planning of these; we simply wouldn’t have been able to manage without each and every one of your contributions towards making the days so successful. You all know who you are, and on behalf of the Sabbatical Officers, I can only hope that you already know how grateful we are.
In the Sport Zone, BUCS performances have generally been encouraging so far this season. Special mention must go out to Men’s Badminton, Men’s Rugby Union, and Ladies Hockey 1st Teams for unbeaten starts in their respective leagues. I hope both teams can keep up the great run of form going into and beyond the Christmas break.

And finally, if you still haven’t got round to joining a sports club within the Athletic Union for whatever reason, don’t worry; there’s still time! Memberships can be paid at any point throughout the year, not just in the first couple of weeks like some students are led to believe. Come and see me in the AU Office to find out more about the club interesting you the most… There must be one that takes your fancy, we have over 40!
