MGMT’s second album, Congratulations, has a lot to live up to. Indeed, if you’re looking for more anthems such as Kids and Time to Pretend, then I’m afraid you will leave empty handed. However, don’t let that stop you from giving this a listen. What this album offers is the sort of sound heard on the second half of Oracular Spectacular, by which I mean eerie vocals absolutely drenched in reverb, atop of a mix of synthesized beats, and clean guitar and keyboard work. The current single Flash Delirium is certainly a perfect example of these factors working together brilliantly.
