“’Sup fashionistas!” A welcoming note that should be focussed on those of you who love fashion, not you who wish to pimp yourselves out just because you’re a “first year”.
Hot – Individuality
Fashion is constantly shifting. Each month brings with it hoards of new and even old styles to the shops. The high street is currently brimming with shoulder padded blazers and psychedelic tights. But for those of you who don’t like such trends you don’t have to follow them. Look around, you may see someone clad in sequins and you will think to yourself, ‘what a fashion monstrosity’ as that particular individual does not suit the trend. You ought to be an individual, think to yourself what styles, colours, shapes you love and wear them! All the glossies are telling you how to shop to fit your own shape, so do so. Wear what you want, when you want. Be comfortable and enjoy your clothes to the full. Individuality is hot, you don’t have to follow the crowds to be yourself!
Not – Trendistas
Are you a slave to the trends? Do you find yourself wearing a chunky knit that drowns you just to conform to the so-called fashion-forward trends? If so, consider these following questions: do I feel comfortable? Do I look as good as I could? Does it show off my shape to the fullest? If you answered no to all of these, then why are you following what’s ‘new’ in fashion when all it does is make you feel like an uncomfortable old gran?! You don’t look hot and you don’t feel hot. Fashion is about experimentation, and trends are only a guideline to what is on the catwalk. Follow them if you will, so long as you feel the best you can feel. Clothes are there to accentuate you; is it accentuating your personality if you’re wearing exactly what Posh Spice is wearing?! No, so be your own person, do/wear what you want, when you want!
