The NUS has called for a ban of student ‘initiations’ in the UK following BBC footage of Gloucester University students taking part in a distastefully themed initiation party. Older students, one of which donned a Nazi-style uniform, encouraged those being initialised to drink excessive amounts of alcohol. The incident, although commonplace throughout Britain, has angered the NUS due to the offensive costume and the BBC expose which has again highlighted Universities as breeding grounds for Britain’s ‘binge-drinking’ culture.
